Where are they found?
The fact is that every single modern electrically wired home in does (or should) have a circuit breaker. If you do not have a circuit breaker, chances are you are in violation of one or more building codes. The circuit breaker works by controlling the flow of electricity throughout the house and amongst electronics, outlets, and electrical appliances. Without a circuit breaker, the electrical current can become too strong, create too much heat, and cause catastrophic fire damage.
The circuit breaker is designed to simply cut off electrical flow once it has reached a certain (and potentially dangerous) level. Once the breaker has been tripped, the electrical flow ceases and therefore the heat source is cut off and the risk for fire is eliminated. Unlike older fuses, which had to be replaced when tripped or “blown,” a tripped breaker can simply be flipped back to the on position and electrical flow restored.
